Two die in Concord plane crash
CONCORD (AP) A safety activist righting expansion of Buchannan Field was among witnesses who saw the fiery wreckage of a light plane that crashed into a parking lot shortly after it took off from the airstrip.
"Today it only involved one aircraft and it was single engine not a jet carrying more volatile jet fuel. It could have been a lot worse," said Andrea Wise, whose organization, "People Over Planes," opposes Contra Costa County's planned expansion of Buchannan.
Two people died Monday when the small plane lost altitute over the crowded commerical area and hit the ground, where it flipped over and burst into flames, authorities said.
