The theatre opened as the “Enean Theatre” in 1938 on Grant and Salvio Streets in Concord, in the late 70’s/early 80’s the theatre was sold and was the center of Concord’s Porn World. It’s name was “The Showcase” and featured a large screen with over 600 seats. In 1985, the theatre was sold once again.
The Showcase Theater was behind the First Presbyterian Church. Parishioners were so unhappy with having a porn theater in their block, they bought the property. They were unable to evict the theater until their lease expired, so they routinely picketed the theater they owned. Eventually, it was made into the First Presbyterian Church community center.
