Edna Haywood Gnotta
Edna Haywood Gnotta, 80, died Thursday at Queen of the Valley Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Cut Bank, Mont. Sept. 29, 1904, attended Galt Hospital School of Nursing in Alberta, Canada and, after receiving her degree, worked at French Hospital in San Francisco where she received her California credentials. In 1930, she founded the Concord Hospital and actively operated it until 1946 when she moved to Napa and she did private duty nursing.
She is survived by her son, Frank Haywood of Carson City, Nev.; three sisters, Frances Porter of Concord, Ruth Kennedy of Carpenteria and Anna Chapman of Napa; four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church in Concord on Saturday at 11 a.m.. The Rev. Robert Sheappard will officiate. Local arrangements are under the direction of Claffey and Rota Funeral Home.
