A.W. Maltby, Ex-Chicago Politician,
Dies on Coast
Adolphus W. Maltby, former Chicago coal dealer and at one time widely known in city politics, is dead in California, according to a telegram received yesterday by Francis T. Connery, former city clerk of Chicago. Mr. Maltby was alderman from the old Twenty-second ward from 1895-1899. He is credited with being the father of the track elevation movement in Chicago, and was the first chairman of the council's track elevation committee.
This is the same A. W. Maltby who unsuccessfully tried to have the Contra Costa County Seat moved from Martinez to Concord but was successful in bringing train service to Concord.
